The Fashion Pact

Report

First presented to Heads of State at the G7 Summit in Biarritz, The Fashion Pact launched as a mission given to Kering Chairman and CEO, François-Henri Pinault, by French President Emmanuel Macron. A global coalition of companies, suppliers, and distributors in the fashion and textiles industry committed to key environmental goals in three areas: global warming, biodiversity, and the oceans.

This was their first progress report.

The Fashion Pact more than doubled its membership in its first year: Over 60 signatories encompassing 1/3 of the global fashion industry together publicly committed to reaching tangible targets in sustainability.

I worked closely with a creative director along with teams from The Fashion Pact and Boston Consulting Group to tell the story of a year of progress, state what more was to come, and invite other industry leaders to join the pact.

Taking cues from fashion publications and high-end journals, we leaned into photography, clean lines, and a minimal palette for layouts and data visualizations.

A set of custom single-line illustrations broke from the refined structure of the pages with delicate organic shapes and movement. These illustrations reflected images from both the fashion world and the natural world: a shoe, a bird in flight, a spool of thread, a blooming flower–evoking the idea of the two being in balance with one other.

A global audience

The final report was released at the Global Fashion Agenda's Copenhagen Fashion Summit (CPS+) where executives from IMAGINE, Gap, Chanel, and PVH Corp (Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger) shared key findings. It was also covered by publications including Vogue, Forbes, and WWD.
