Social Campaign Poster: "Stop the Trade"

This poster is for a campaign aimed at spreading awareness of the human trafficking that is still prevalent in our world.

In my design, I transformed a lipstick mark - a symbol traditionally associated with seduction, sultriness, and romance - into an image of what sex is for victims of the sex trade: violence, abuse, and fear. While the first associations with the image is being advertised, the second is what is actually “sold.” The quote on and below the lips are taken from a quote from Radio Free Europe Radio Liberty

This poster was created as part of an exercise for a graphic design course at the University of Miami. I used my own photograpy, Photoshop, and Illustrator in this project.

Shakespeare's Cymbeline

I drew the illustrations for this poster on paper and refined them in Adobe Illustrator. The imagery of linked hands references the intertwined lives and circular pursuit of characters in Shakespeare's "Cymbeline," in addition to alluding to the "ring" and "bracelet" symbols in the play.

Font Poster, "Fette Fraktur"

Fette Fraktur is a bold, "broken" typeface that historically found most of its use in Germany. It was frequently used for signposts and posters until its use was stopped altogether by the Nazi party in 1941.

Today, Fette Fraktur is a typeface associated with German or Austrian tradition and flavor. With this poster, however, I wanted to leave this association behind and focus on the letters as forms to communicate a sense of the type's "brokenness" as well as use it in a style atypical for the typeface.
